Our History

backchat.org.uk is the brainchild of
Lara Priscilla Cawthra BSc.MChiro.MCSc.(Paeds.) FCC (Paeds.)

After becoming frustrated that there was no real voice for those who were experiencing back pain, neck pain or any kind of pain , she thought there was something she could do about it. She decided to set up a user friendly website where ordinary people could chat to each other about their experiences and/or get FREE professinal advice.

Lara trained in Australia for six years at university to receive her Master of Chiropractic. She also received the SUMUCSA Student of the Year Award 1996. After working as a Locum Chiropractor in Australia Lara decided to travel which lead her to England. Here she worked as an Associate Chiropractor for two and a half years. During this time Lara became increasingly aware of the importance of prevention of dysfunction rather than just helping repair the often longstanding problems.

Many patients seemed to have already acquired their problems and only visited the chiropractor when they were most troubling. Lara thought the best way to avoid these problems were to detect them at an early age. So she grew an interest in Paediatrics, which led Lara to embark on a rigorous three year Master of Chiropractic Paediatric course. Lara completed the Master of Chiropractc Paediatric degree in 2003, making her one of the few chiropractors in the UK with formal training in Paediatrics. In 2006 Lara was invited to start teaching the postgraduate programme of Chiropractic Paediatrics at the McTimoney College of Chiropractic, University of Wales. Lara is registered with the General Chiropractic Council, a member of the Scottish Chiropractic Association, a member of the Chiropractor’s Association of Australia, and a member of the College of Chiropractors.
